How to Mange and Prevent Clothes Moth Infestation
If you find your clothing in storage ridden with holes, clothing moths are most likely the culprits. To put a stop to clothing moths, you must familiarize yourself with proper care and storage techniques.
Once you identify moth-ridden clothing, you must first eliminate all traces of clothing moth larvae from the storage area, and any clothing that was stored within it. If your clothing was stored in a bin, chest, or closet, you'll want to remove all of the clothing, vacuum the interior, and wipe it down with clorox or soap and water to kill any remaining larvae. Next, wash or dry-clean all clothing that was stored in the area, even if it doesn't look like it's been affected by clothing moths or larvae. Nearby clothing may harbor moth larvae that have yet to hatch -- before you put your clothing back into storage or introduce it to your closet, you'll need to ensure that it's moth larvae-free. Otherwise, the moths will continue to spread.
Of course, you won't want to run through this tedious cleaning ritual season after season -- the most surefire way to avoid clothing moth infestation is prevention. The first step to clothing moth prevention is to clean all of your clothing well before you store it. Moths typically feed on wool or wool-blends, but are also known to feed on cotton, rayon and silk, especially if that clothing is dirty. Clothing moths are attracted to wool fibers, as well as any human body oil, animal hair or food stains that often permeate unwashed clothing. Never store dirty clothing!

If you'd like to avoid mothballs, cedar wood and other natural preventative remedies all together, wearing clothing at regular intervals and/or exposing them to the sun can be enough to knock off or kill moth larvae before they have the opportunity to do any damage.
