How to Clean with Baking Soda, Vinegar, Lemons and Fabric Sheets
A hands on guide on the uses of fabric softener sheets, baking soda and vinegar in everyday life. Skin care, cleaning, stain removal. Pet safe, child safe.
A) Carpets and floors (including pet stains)
Lightly sprinkle plain baking soda over desired area, and spritz with white vinegar mixed with a few drops of lemon juice or orange oil. scrub it around and let it dry. if using on a hard surface, just mop it up with some warm water. If on carpet, vacuum it up after its dry. For heavily stained areas, make a thick paste with baking soda and water, and rub it in. let it dry and them wet it with white vinegar. scrub and vacuum it up. Great for pet stains and works well on wine also.
B) Stains on Clothing
Make a paste with a little bit of baking soda and water, rub it into the affected fabric. let it dry a little and then spritz it with some vinegar. wash it. Pretty well idiot proof.
C) Bathrooms and Kitchens
For tubs, sinks and toilets... pour a good amount of baking soda into the tub, sink or toilet and scrub it around. A 1/4 cup is sufficient for a sink or toilet, 1-2 cups for a tub. Follow with a few squirts of lemon juice and the twice the amount of vinegar. Lemony fresh, shiny and clean. If you have a copper sink, tub or crap canister, slice a lemon in half and rub it on the metal. It'll look like new. Want it to smell pretty? Dampen a fabric softener sheet and wipe down sinks, tubs and floors. They also work on tough bathroom stains like mildew and soap scum and add a nice shine.
D) Face and Hair Care.
A lot of people these days use copious amounts of hair and facial products. To remove said products from hair that usually take several shampoos, just wet a handful of baking soda and lightly scrub it through your lovely mane. It will feel a little weird after you wash it out, but after you shampoo and condition it will feel quite nice. For acne, mix olive oil, baking soda rosemary oil and peppermint oil into a small glass container. DO NOT use a lot of the rosemary or peppermint. You'll not only regret it but look like you made out with a bee hive. microwave for 10-20 seconds and mask your face with it. let it dry. Dampen a washcloth with warm water and gently rub it off. Follow with a few splashes of cool water. you can do the same for your hair, but you will need more olive oil for the hair mix.
